into the weekend

Fri: a late night planned with friends
Sat: a possible Johnnie reunion, along with some swing dancing!
Soon: a new look for my blog, and a new title, which are in the works. HT to Sir Robert. :)

but while you're here, feel free to feed the resident blog pet, mr purple llamameister, and comment on what philosophers you enjoy reading most.

Schaeffer. In general, I prefer reading fiction to nonfiction, so out-and-out philosophy does not often find its way voluntarily into my reading list, although I do like stories that tackle big philosophical issues as well. But yeah, Schaeffer. He knows his stuff, and when I read him, I feel like I'm seeing something I know already from a new and illuminating point of view. I don't feel like I'm being brought face-to-face with unpleasant ideas that the author throws out purely for the sake of challenging my sensibilities, whether those ideas are valid or not. Schaeffer's about truth. There are some philosophers who aren't. So I likes me the Schaeffer.
